Let’s Meet Young & Talented Janelle Nucum

This week in our interview section we have with us a fifteen-year old Singer, Songwriter, Musician, Actress and Model, Janelle Nucum. She began her passion for music at the age of two, then started performing on stage professionally at the age of eight.

Twist Online : First of all please introduce yourself to our readers.
Janelle Nucum :  Hi! I’m Janelle Nucum, I’m 15 years old and I’m a singer, songwriter, actress and model. I began my passion for music at the age of 2 and started taking singing and acting classes at the age of 8. Since then, I have performed in numerous theater and live productions, walked in various fashion shows, modeled for commercial print ads and landed the lead role in a short film and various TV commercials. I signed independently to my record label Storm Central, LLC who offered me global distribution via SSMG/Ingrooves Music Group/Universal Music Distribution. Now, I just released my debut single “Pages” which is available on over 600 online retailers worldwide.

Twist Online : Who or what inspired you to get into music industry?
Janelle Nucum : I come from a family of people who love music and are passionate for music. Music has always been in my blood so being around people who shared the same love and passion for music as me really influenced me growing up. I knew at a very young age that being a singer was what I wanted to do and having my musical inspirations that I look up to really drove me to pursue my dream.

Twist Online : Tell us about your recent release ‘pages’?
Janelle Nucum : “Pages” is my debut single that I co-wrote with Christine Storm. It’s a song that I hope everyone of all ages can relate to. It’s about wanting to make something of yourself and not being a random face in the yearbook. It’s about wanting to achieve your dreams. Everyone has goals in their life and everyone has been a part of a yearbook and I hope this song inspires people to reach for their dreams and strive to be the best that they can be.

Twist Online : What kind of response you have received from the release?
Janelle Nucum : We have received a tremendous and an overwhelming amount of love and support since the release of “Pages” from all of our family, relatives, friends and my new fans from all parts of the world. I am so grateful to all the people who have helped me get here and made this possible. I am so thankful for everyone who has listened, streamed, downloaded “Pages” and accepted me as an artist and welcomed me into the music world.

Twist Online : What attracts you more, performing on stage or working in studios?
Janelle Nucum : I have a deep love for both. I have been performing on stage since I was 8 years old and it has become a second home to me. I love being in front of an audience and feeling the crowd’s energy as I pour my heart into a song. I love the adrenaline I feel before I go on stage and after I walk off. It truly makes me happy. I love being in the studio as well, I have always dreamed of being in a recording studio one day and once I finally got started, it felt so natural. It felt like I was meant to be there. Even though we do several takes before we get the perfect one, I love the whole process of it and building the song and putting all of your emotion into every take while you’re determined to get it right.

Twist Online : What’s your favorite music genre?
Janelle Nucum : I love Pop and R&B. It has always been the music I could never stop listening to and as I was working on “Pages”, I tried incorporating that style of music into my song as well.

Twist Online : Have you set some goals to achieve?
Janelle Nucum :  I hope that my song “Pages” reaches more people. This is a song that I am so passionate about and I hope that more people will listen to it and be able to relate to it. I want this song to inspire people to achieve their dreams. I hope it motivates them and empowers them to accomplish anything they set their mind to. I also hope to record and release more songs and hopefully have a full album one day. Hopefully, I can perform on national television and share my music with the world and perform with my musical inspirations in the future.

Twist Online : Are you working on any new project?
Janelle Nucum : We just finished filming my music video for “Pages” which will be released in the upcoming weeks. Right now we are focusing on the promo for “Pages” so that it reaches more listeners. I’m still writing songs and developing ideas for possible new music and hopefully you will hear more from me in the future.
