Let’s Rock and Roll with ‘Year Of October’

We recently interviewed Rock and Roll band ‘Year Of October’. Representing his band Josh Sullivan replied our questions. We are sharing here our conversation.

Twist Online : What was inspiration behind starting the band?

Year Of October : Phlecia and I started writing music together and decided that we should start a band. It started off as just an acoustic duo but we wrote songs with a full band in mind.

Twist Online : Any particular reason for naming your band “Year of October”?

Year Of October :  It was a name that Phlecia came up when we couldn’t think of a band name. When we first started it was just the two of us playing acoustic music like you would hear around a campfire in the month of October.  Phlecia said why don’t we take that feeling of October and make it last all year long.

Twist Online : Our reader would like to know about the band members and their roles in the band?

Year Of October : Right now it’s just me and Phlecia.  I play guitar and Phlecia sings.  I play bass on the records and we have a lot of different people filling in right now playing drums. Phlecia and I write all the songs together and we also do all the production ourselves.

Twist Online : Tell us about your recent release “Golden Days”?

Year Of October : It took about 9 months for us to write and record “Golden Days”.  Each song on the record tells a different story.  For example the title track is about Phlecia’s old house that she used to live in.  It’s about a lady who used to live there and her ghost now now haunts the house walking up and down the halls. Phlecia wrote the song from the ghost’s perspective, saying that she is looking for her “Golden Days” and wishing she could be young again.

Twist Online : What kind of response your new record is receiving ?

Year Of October : It has gotten a decent response.  We’ve been selling quite a few at shows and also had some interest online.

Twist Online : What’s your favorite music genre?

Year Of October :  I don’t really have a favorite genre.  I listen to so much music it’d be impossible to narrow it down to just one.  Also a lot of my favorite music is a cross between a lot of genres.

Twist Online : What are the future goals or mission of the Band?

Year Of October :  We are wanting to continue putting out music and tour more.  Also we are working on our third album.  Our main mission is be able to play music full time.

Twist Online : Are you working on any new projects?

Year Of October :  We are in the process of recording our third record right now.  It’ll be a full length record with ten songs, and we are looking at putting it out Spring of 2017.  We should have music video out and a single in the next few months.
