Music artist Tunca talks about his passion for music

Music artist Tunca (Rıdvan Küçük) was born in April 1989 in İstanbul, Turkey. We have recently got an opportunity to interview him for our magazine. Sharing it with our readers here.

Twist Online : First of all tell us about the start of your professional career?

Tunca : First of all I waited for really long time publish my music. I started making music when I was 14. And now I’m 29. And I released my first album when I was 28. Then waited for a year to release ‘Heaven’ single. It’s my first song in electronic music. First I started with guitar. After guitar, I’ve discovered keyboard. Then I focused on electronic music but I’m still about indie rock.
I’ve collected bunch of song to release. And now recording and releasing my songs. In music world, making different things is really imported. That why I’m not focusing only rock music. Cause music is art and art has no borders.

Twist Online : Who or what inspired you to get into music industry?

Tunca : I started to play guitar because of John Frusciante. I’m big fan of him and listened his all songs. He is absolutely my idol! But also Jimi Hendrix is my hero! Both are almost same for me but J.Frusciante is winner for me. But instead of people who affected me, I chose music because i can’t talk very well but I can make talk my guitar or any instruments. Sometimes sentences are not enough to tell myself.

Twist Online : Tell us about your recent release?

Tunca : ‘Heaven’ is my first baby from electronic music. It’s totally experimental. I’m just telling what we have our inside with ‘Heaven’. Cause we are more than what we think about us. We’re human. We’re not toys of God. We’re part of God. ‘Heaven’ tells this. So I’m calling ‘Heaven’ as ‘mysticism’.

Twist Online : What kind of response you have received from your fans and critics?

Tunca : Actually I didn’t expect very good responses but people really loved it! As i said, ‘Heaven’ is totally experimental. So some listeners can’t get used to second part of song. Cause no one have no idea about ‘real heaven’. So i made second part as chaos. Second part of song tells
us chaos about our thought of heaven.

Twist Online : What attracts you more, performing on stage or working in studios?

Tunca : Performing on stage is really fun. Of course making music with people in real time is best for all musicians. I will start performing after my new album.

Twist Online : What’s your favorite music genre? We came to know you have your own style you named ” ‘Insidie’?

Tunca : My favourite music genre is ‘funky punky fucking pop rock’! Just kidding! I have no specific genre that I like. I almost love all music genres. That’s why I called my genre ‘Insidie’ cause I’m listening my ‘inside’. I can make electronic music, pop or rock. Maybe indie or ethnic… I’m making music about what I have in my mind. And my mind can change…

Twist Online : Have you set some target to achieve as a music artist?

Tunca : I’m regular person. That’s all. Of course i want more audience. I’m little egoist, that’s true. I just want to share my songs with the world. Also I have a dream, too! I want to play with Mac Demarco on KEXP! Just a dream!

Twist Online : Are you currently working on any other project?

Tunca : Yes. Now recording my second album. It’s indie pop/rock. 9 or 10 songs… Again i’m talking about mysticism in this album.

Twist Online : Are you active on social media? How can one follow you online for news and updates?
