Nathaniel James has had one constant in his life, and that is music. Being the last of 6 children he was not the only one with the gift, but is the only James to have such success in his pursuit of being a professional musician. He is not those kind of musicians who start there career without any particular education. He has taken proper music education. Studied Intro to Jazz from Humber College. Then Learned Keyboard performance, got Audio Engineering Certificate and finally Musical Direction for a number of student recitals and productions from Associates of Art.
Apart from getting music education from Music Institutes, like many musicians he started out in the church. His father, a local gospel-recording artist at the time, taught him how to play “The Old Rugged Cross” at the age of 4, and he hasn’t stopped playing since. He began playing for services and concerts as a teenager, and has now branched out into several different areas of music. Kim Burrell, Tye Tribett, Richard Smallwood, John P. Kee, these are a few of the people who proved to be his inspiration and brought perfection in his work.
He has shared the stage with some of Toronto’s finest, such as The Weeknd, Kiesha Chante, Choclaire and is now working with Leroy Sanchez, Kaya Stewart and Charly Cole three young, up and coming artists. After the release of the live DVD gospel recording named “I’m Not Afraid”, from artist Dominiq that he co-produced/arranged he knew that he had a talent for musical direction. He is now working in the studio with various local artists, which he is producing, and writing for. Outside of production and performance, one of his passions is teaching the youth at his church. Currently he is also working on his demo which showcase the sound of the 90’s which he was heavily influenced by.
Apart from being a good musician he is also a very humble human being and very active in social work activities. He volunteered in Emergency Relief in Haiti, and also been involved in my other such events & fundraising campaigns. His ultimate goal is to make a contribution to music, which has enriched his life so significantly and to be accountable to his gifting from God who has blessed him so abundantly. One of his long term goals is to open a musical institution where he will teach, record, manage and guide young artists and musicians.
There is not doubt that a largely talented, highly skillful musician and a humble human being like him will be on top of the music industry in near future.
If you want to follow him he is very active on social media and regularly updates his Instagram, Facebook, Twitter and SoundCloud accounts.
