Rapper KVBA talks about his Debut EP “Love”
We are sharing our recent interview with Amsterdam based rapper KVBA. Who has just released his first EP called ‘LOVE’.
Twist Online : Who or what inspired you to get into music industry?
KVBA : It’s hard to choose one person, I would say it was more the rap game in it’s entirety. I heard the rap songs and albums and was convinced that’s what I want to do. And so I started working towards it. Even non musical people inspire me to do this, people who push the limits in general. Whether it’s an athlete or painter or whatever, it’s beautiful to see someone fail countless times to finally win.
Twist Online : What is the motive behind releasing weekly tracks, the ‘Weekly Waves’.?
KVBA : I felt that musicians don’t release much music in general, or they release everything at one time like an album. Inspired by Russ (a rapper who released songs weekly for over a year) I agreed with his method to keep rewarding your fans and give them new music every week, this helped me to shape my sound very fast as well. Now I switched up to releasing EPs every 2 to 3 months, the reason is because I don’t only want to be able to make quality singles but also want to be able to make great coherent projects. That’s the final goal, to make a great album. This takes more than throwing some tracks together.
Twist Online : What kind of response you have received so far?
KVBA : The response has been very warming to me. People are complimenting me for my musical growth. If you go back to my first ever recording song (it’s still on soundcloud) you’ll see I’ve improved a lot. I use this to motivate myself to keep making music, because if I keep on going like this, the music will be on another level 2 years from now.
Twist Online : Real Madrid soccer player, Marcelo Vieira Jr. featured in your video recently, your fans must be very excited about that?
KVBA : Oh man, the fans went crazy. I was on my way to Krakow, Poland where I resided at that time when I got that text. I went totally crazy and got on instagram and told everybody about it. Everybody saw me getting hyped they started to get hyped as well and the news spread. I’ve received a lot of texts after that.
Twist Online : What’s the best part of being a music artist?
KVBA : The best part is everything you imagine becomes reality in the music. Everybody has setbacks in life but when you make a song, you can shape it anyway you would like. Everything that doesn’t work in real life, works in my music, that’s why I could never stop making it.
Twist Online : Have you set some goals to achieve?
KVBA : The Team has set some big goals. With team I mean our label, Trinity Music Label, set up by me and my 2 close friends Con and Kuzek. Next year we’ll be hitting the festival season hard so keep an eye on those if you’re in or around the Netherlands. Apart from that we’ll be doing way more concerts and open up for other artists, so you’ll have a lot of opportunities to see me live.
Twist Online : Are you working on any new project?
KVBA : The debut EP ‘LOVE’ just got out which I’m super proud of but I’m already working on my second EP which will have a totally different theme and vibe.
