Twist Online: First of all, tell us about the start of your professional career?
Manner: I’ve been performing and recording music for 16 years now. I released my first full length album in 2013 under a group name of diatribe now.
Twist Online: Who or what inspired you to get into music industry?
Manner: Some artists that I used to work with when living in Missouri were a big part of my venture in the music business. Sylabol7, and brief to name a couple.
Twist Online: Tell us about your recent release “Can’t Breathe“?
Manner: With everything going on in the world and being Syrian myself, I’ve had a lot to say. It sounds cliché but music and songwriting are my release. I teach 2nd grade and songwriting as well, in a title 1 school where I see daily needs and get a view of the world that not many people see. Social justice and striving for that is a big part of my life.
Twist Online: What kind of response you have received from the release?
Manner: A very positive response so far. People seem to like it and many people can relate to it. Living in Juneau Alaska we have our own injustices. Fighting for equality is something people experience everywhere. “This very land they stole from native Indians, then exploited it, example, Cleveland
Indians.”
Twist Online: What attracts you more, performing on stage or working in studios?
Manner: The stage for sure at tracts me more. I love building with an audience.
Twist Online: What’s your favorite music genre?
Manner: Hip-hop. I grab inspiration from jazz, Motown and even classical though.
Twist Online: Have you set some target to achieve as a music artist?
Manner : My target right now is to mesh my music with my teaching career. My songwriting class has produced some pretty amazing stuff.
Twist Online: Are you currently working on any other project?
Manner: Yes, I’m working on publishing more with second2none sound as well as continuing to work on music with my students.
