TheArtistFreeze’ is a musician/producer, hailing from Los Angeles, California. He specializes in Ambient/Dark Electro music. He is currently working on his debut album, ‘Seance.’ We had a conversation with him about his upcoming Album as well as his music and life.

Twist Online : Please introduce yourself to our readers.
TheArtistFreeze :  Greetings. I’m TheArtistFreeze, ambient and industrial musician based in Los Angeles, California. Welcome to the void…

Twist Online : Who or what inspired you to get into the music industry?
TheArtistFreeze : I’ve been very fascinated by music from a very young age. In my early years, I used to love pop Music in the 90’s. Britney Spears, Nsync, The Spice Girls, all the main stream music one would normally hear on the radio back then. Although as I became a teenager, my music interest took a drastic and unforeseen turn. I basically left all the bouncy pop anthems, and took a keen liking to metal. Black Metal, Death Metal, Funeral Doom—anything I found morbid and pretty obscure. I purged all the colors from my wardrobe, and everything became black. I was listening to these bands speaking about all these subjects I really resonated with. Life, death, religion, existentialism, the cosmos—all these things I found myself thinking about on a daily basis. I felt as though I also had something to say about these matters, and music seemed the most natural method to administer my ideas.

Twist Online : Tell us about your upcoming debut Album ‘Seance’?
TheArtistFreeze : I’m so immensely excited and proud about my upcoming album, ‘Séance’. It’s my first full length album, produced entirely by myself. It’s a concept album, about someone who seeks to communicate with the dead, and the events that follow their actions. It’s heavily influenced by elements of the occult—rituals, spirits, possession, exorcisms, etc. I wanted to create an album that was emotionally haunting, dark, and with a very mature vibe. The album came out just as I envisioned it, so I really couldn’t be more proud, and so excited to share it with the world.

Twist Online : How many tracks are in your album, and any particular track that’s your favorite?
TheArtistFreeze : The album has nine tracks on it, and in particular, my favorite song is probably the one I produced, called ‘Poltergeist’. I recently posted it to my SoundCloud, as a preview of what the album is like. It has quite a few elements going on within it—industrial beats, some hip-hop elements, heavy bass, and tribal like hits. When I was producing it, I was like “Hmmm, okay, okay, this shit is really dope!” So that’s probably my favorite song on the album, and the one I like to perform live.

Twist Online : You also perform in the underground scene in LA. Tell us about your experience there.
TheArtistFreeze : Los Angles is such an amazing city. The art scene here is just booming, and this is obviously a music mecca. The underground scene here is great. You meet so many other artists who are passionate about their music, fearless about their performances and you really become emerged in the courage of everyone around you. Performing in LA has been fantastic. The people here are really receptive to the music I make, and the kind of aesthetic I have. I’ve gotten nothing but good feedback from everyone here about what I’m trying to do.

Twist Online : Are you influenced by any particular music genre?
TheArtistFreeze : I’m influenced by so many genres, genres that you would never know inspired me in some way or another. But I draw heavy inspiration from the industrial scene though. I love really blunt, raw, and ambient kind of sounds. I always tell people that my album sounds like the marriage of a steel factory, and a haunted house.

Twist Online : Have you set some goals to achieve as a music artist?
TheArtistFreeze : Yea I have a lot of goals I’ve set for myself. I’m currently working on just producing music, and getting my name out there. But eventually in the not too distant future, I hope to go on a national tour. After I release ‘Séance’, I’m going to continue working and focus on my next E.P. I just don’t want to stop. I’ve got a ton of momentum going right now, and I’m going to keep pushing through until I reach my goals!
