Vantum Noir talks about his life, music and passions

Vantum Noir is recording artist, DJ, and Producer from New York City. His style is a fusion of Dancehall, EDM, and Hip Hop. He started making music on a whim and have been for the past 5 years. We recently had a conversation with him, sharing it here with our readers.

Twist Online : First of all please introduce yourself to our readers.
Vantum Noir : I am a black man. I am a Jamaican black man. I am a Jamaican black man from Jamaica, Queens. I am a Jamaican black man from Jamaica, Queens named Vantum Noir. My name has a ridiculously and surprisingly high number of meanings. I have a degree in Advertising. And I’m hungry.

Twist Online : Who or what inspired you to get into music industry?
Vantum Noir : I was never inspired to get into the industry. I wasn’t even inspired to make music. It was just something we did. I actually never thought about pursuing it professionally until I was interning at an ad agency and in the ass-numbing hours of inactivity I said, “Y Not.”

Twist Online : Tell us about your recent project ?
Vantum Noir : My recent project has been life. Moved out. Moved Back. Went Abroad. Just gained perspective really.

Twist Online : What kind of response you have received from the release?
Vantum Noir : I don’t analyze responses. In this era of oversaturation you just need responses. There are a billion websites. If a person goes on your site consider that the best response you ever could’ve gotten.

Twist Online : What attracts you more, performing on stage or working in studios?
Vantum Noir : Both experiences cannot and should not be weighed against because they are two completely different perspectives. Literally. I was put on a stage at a young age so that is one aspect and I remember being in SuperCat’s studio when I was a toddler so both perspectives are equally dope as fucxk.

Vantum Noir : Dancehall is the best genre in the world.

Twist Online : Have you set some goals to achieve?
Vantum Noir : I have goals outside of music. My goal with music is always going to be the same thing which is: Getting Across Messages.

Twist Online : Are you working on any new project?
Vantum Noir : Plural. I’m currently developing a release strategy to allow myself to stay consistent. I have some themed work dropping. I got a project with my nigga Bankrunner Surf coming called Badmanizm. We about to slap that in niggas face real quick. Then we got some vizualz coming as well.
