Young Drastic talks about his Album “Popular Unpopular”
Today on our Hot Seat we have a 21 years old introspective lyricist Young Drastic with us. Lets have a chat with him.
Twist Online : First of all please introduce yourself to our readers.
Young Drastic : I’m a musician who goes by the stage name Young Drastic
Twist Online : Who or what inspired you to get into music industry?
Young Drastic : The passing of my grandmother inspired me to get into music for the sake of an outlet. No one really inspired me to get into the industry itself. I just always thought that came with the gig if you take your musical career seriously
Twist Online : Tell us about your recent album ‘Popular Unpopular‘ ?
Young Drastic : It’s an album that gives an in-depth look at thoughts and events I’ve dealt with from December 2014 to September 28th, 2016 (My 21st birthday). Sonically, it takes influences from many genres or time periods. Some tracks have an 80’s feel, some have more of a Punk or Alternative feel.
Twist Online : What kind of response you have received from the release?
Young Drastic : So far, I have received a postive response. So right now, everything is good.
Twist Online : Any particular track of the Album that’s your favorite ?
Young Drastic : It might be a 3-way tie between 21, Legendary, and Anti-Hero
Twist Online : What attracts you more, performing on stage or working in studios?
Young Drastic : I think I’m becoming more and more introverted so working in studios brings along a good sense of comfortability.
Twist Online : What’s your favorite music genre?
Young Drastic : It depends on the day. One day, it could be more Jazz-influenced Hip-Hop like Nujabes. Some days, it could be Rap like XV.
Twist Online : Have you set some goals to achieve?
Young Drastic : I have some goals set as far as where I want to go musically as well as goals as far as touring goes. If we’re talking about general life goals, living somewhere like Japan or somewhere nice in Cali would be tight.
Twist Online : Are you working on any new project?
Young Drastic : I have a few projects in the stash and a few collab projects I want to knock out this summer. Also, I’m in the very early stages of work on the next album. So yeah, I guess I have a bit going on.
